K.D.A.A (Kidsgrove District Anglers Association) rules and regulations

Boat House Rules:

  1. No smoking inside the boat house

  2. No naked flames

  3. Maximum of 2 people occupying the boat house at a time

  4. Night fishing is allowed from the boat house only (No tents, Bivvy etc.)

  5. Litter to be left in refuge bag provided

GENERAL RULES

  1. Members will be expected to produce their card if requested to do so by an official committee member, authorised council official or any other member holding a membership card.

  2. That all litter be removed before and after fishing. All food and drink cans be banned from club waters.

  3. That club officials, i.e. committee men, bailiffs, etc. have the right to confiscate permits from anyone breaking the club rules.

  4. Junior members may not fish Bath Pool, Leg of Mutton Pool and the River Dove unless supervised by an adult aged 18 years or over.

  5. In the interest of safety to pedestrians using the public footpath leading to Leg O’Mutton pool a 5 mph speed limit be imposed on Clough Hall Drive. Leg O’Mutton gate to be closed after vehicles pass through.

  6. No person is allowed to fish in association waters unless in possession of a current association license (NOT TRANSFERABLE).

  7. No angler to fish with more than two rods at any one time, both should be confined to one peg. On Bathpool a third rod may be used. Anglers using a third rod are requested to give consideration to other anglers and to respect their space.

  8. No rods to be left unattended as per water authority ruling.

  9. Caution should be used when fishing with floating baits, and in shallow water swims in order to protect wildlife, especially swans.

  10. No fishing or floating baits in lily pads etc. on any club waters.

  11. Any member breaking club rules will be dealt with under section 8 of the constitution.

  12. Headphones to be used at all times with personal radios etc. by anglers on all club waters.

  13. Any member who, whilst fishing, or in going to, or returning therefrom, shall do any damage to any property shall pay for same and be dealt with accordingly.

  14. Anglers taking dogs to club waters must keep them tethered at all times.

  15. The use of foul language by members will be severely dealt with.

  16. Any member who aids and abets a non member to fish club waters will have their cards confiscated.

  17. That ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse for breaking them.

  18. That no person whilst being a member of K.D.A.A. shall attempt to negotiate with owners of club waters to obtain fishing rights.

  19. No alcohol to be consumed while fishing KDAA waters.

  20. One rod only to be used on Farm Pool.

  21. Pools closed on match days to pleasure anglers until end of match. Pegs may be allocated on the day by match steward.

  22. Fishing at Leg O’Mutton be strictly from permanent pegs.

  23. Junior members under 12 years to fish one rod only, over 12 years 2 rods permitted.

  24. No carp sacks to be used at any time.

  25. All NUT type baits are banned from all club waters.

  26. Sensible amounts of baits to be used for baiting up during angling sessions. No pre-baiting allowed.

  27. No landing net – NO FISHING.

  28. Farm Pool - barbless hooks only to be used. No keepnets allowed except in Bona Fide matches. Stock pond at Bathpool no keepnets allowed.

    1. On Farm Pool only float fishing and light match tackle may be used. Maximum hook size 12 and up to 6lb breaking strain line only.

    2. Members must be in possession of a current EA Licence before fishing any KDAA water. This may be inspected by a bailiff or any other Licence Holder. No Licence no fishing.

    3. Junior members must be accompanied by an adult in possession of a night permit, maximum of 2 juniors per adult and to fish 1 rod only.

    4. The taking of fish by any other means than rod and line is prohibited. Any member taking fish by netting, snaring, trimmers, bank runners or night lines will be severely dealt with.

    5. The minimum size of keepnets to be used in association waters is 2 metres. Committee members and Association officials have the authority, at their discretion, to request a member to return fish to the water if in their opinion fish are suffering unduly by being retained in keepnets.

    6. No fish including Grayling to be taken from the Club waters with the exception of Trout.

    7. All specialist anglers, i.e. carp and pike, must be in possession of and use at all times Substantial unhooking mats (must be at least 25mm thick foam or use a carp cradle), forceps and landing nets. Mats, nets and slings must be dried before using on Association waters to prevent the spread of disease. Anglers must not fall asleep if they are night fishing for Pike on Bath pool.

    8. The club recommends that all members carry fish care products (i.e. carp clinic or similar) to treat wounds on all fish landed.

    9. No coarse fish above 6 inches to be used for pike bait. No carp to be used as livebait. Carp anglers must use line greater than 0.4mm diameter when fishing Bath pool.

    10. No Junior Member to fish for pike by any means unless accompanied by a competent senior or veteran member. Senior or veteran members to mentor a maximum of 2 juniors when pike fishing. (See and adhere to rule 34 before pike fishing).

    11. No live or dead fish, either whole or part of, to be used as bait between 15th March and 31st August. Artificial lures, e.g. plugs, spinners, spoons etc fished on the retrieve may be used at any time. (See and adhere to rule 34 before pike fishing).

    Night Fishing Bath Pool

    1. No Night Fishing on any club waters except Bath pool where a night fishing membership card is required. Night Fishing Membership cards will be sold from Pets and Pastimes at Butt Lane.

    2. The Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Kidsgrove Masonic Club (next to Kidsgrove Town Hall) at 20:00hrs.

Additional Rules:

Anglers must respect wild life and always be considerate to water birds.

Lines, weights and end tackle should be kept out of trees, water lilies and snags.

Great caution and techniques such as “clipping up” must be used when casting towards any areas were retrieval is not possible.

In particular Swans must be left alone and given great respect.

Lost tackle is a dangerous hazard to waterfowl and birds so must not be carelessly left around any club waters.
